CB1 receptors play an important role in relieving pain from prostate cancer.

We now know that cannabinoids interact with prostate cancer cells and that there is a possibility of using these compounds to reduce activity, which includes the growth and spread of cancer.

Studies show that prostate cancer cells have higher levels of expression of CB1 and CB2 receptors than ordinary cells. In other words, cancer cells have more affinity for cannabinoids than normal cells. Laboratory research has shown that cells are treated with specific cannabinoids, three things happen.

A: Generally speaking, cells become less viable and more prone to apoptosis (programmed cell death)

B – The activity of the androgen receptor on the surface of cancer cells decreases. Prostate cancer appears to be “backed” by the male hormone androgens.

C: CBD helps reduce the formation of blood vessels, which prostate cancer tumors need to feed.

Significant research has been conducted in mice on cancer cells and prostate tumor cells. Cannabinoids have been tested to study their biochemical effects on individual cells and the actual behavior of the tumor in live animals. The result has been very optimistic and the authors suggested that “CBD in particular, delays the proliferation and causes apoptosis of PCC [prostate cancer cells] through a combination of cellular and molecular mechanisms independent of the cannabinoid receptor.”

There are already many cases of people who have used cannabis oil to reduce tumors of this type of cancer and there are many of them who have been successful combining this use with conventional therapies.

Researchers who have been studying cannabis’s abilities, both in laboratory containers and in animals, are asking for real clinical trials with patients. They say that cannabinoids have been shown to have the ability to prevent cell proliferation, build their own blood supply, and take androgen male hormones. Furthermore, it has been studied that, depending on the conditions, cannabinoids have a synergistic effect with chemotherapy. Such characteristics are quite promising to combat this type of cancer.
